What to do in Mudgee this 2026 Easter Long Weekend: Family-friendly winery guide

What to do in Mudgee this Easter long weekend (2026 guide for families)

If you’re Googling what to do in Mudgee this Easter long weekend… or trying to figure out how to keep the kids happy and still enjoy yourself - I’ve got you.

If you’re in Mudgee on Saturday 4 April or Sunday 5 April 2026, this is where I’d send you before you even unpack your bags: Bunnamagoo Estate Wines.

A quick story (and why I rate this place so highly)

Nine years ago, on my wedding day, we got in the car and drove 15 minutes away from our venue… just to take photos here.

On their driveway.

A driveway so beautiful we built part of our day around it.

So when I say it’s one of the best cellar doors in Mudgee - I mean it. I’ve literally planned life moments around it.

Why this is one of the best wineries in Mudgee for families

After years of eating and drinking my way around Mudgee (strictly for research, obviously), this is one of the few places that actually gets the balance right.

Here’s why it works so well if you’ve got kids with you:

There is space.

Not a token patch of grass… a huge, flat, beautifully manicured lawn where they can run, kick a ball, play frisbee, or that Velcro catch game (you know the one).

No cars nearby. No squeezing between tables. Just room to move.

Which means you can actually sit down… and enjoy your wine while the kids run themselves raggard.

What’s on in Mudgee this Easter (at Bunnamagoo)

From what’s typically planned across the Easter long weekend, Bunnamagoo leans into a relaxed, family-friendly setup:

- Live music across the weekend
- Food available on site
- Face painting for the kids
- Easter egg hunts on both days

It’s one of those rare “what to do in Mudgee with kids” options where you’re not mentally planning your exit the whole time.

What to drink (from someone who takes this very seriously, because as always, I don't want to waste calories OR money on anything less than extraordinary)!

Their wines are consistently good, but if you want a starting point:

The Shiraz.

Perfect for those cooler Easter evenings… and yes, it comes in a magnum (which feels like a very responsible decision for a long-weekend).

If you’re not local, you can grab it here: Shop the award-winning Bunnamagoo Shiraz

A little extra (that you wouldn't expect)

They’re also home to Paspaley pearls… which is a very different pace to chasing kids across a lawn, but definitely worth a look - especially if you're up for taking home an everlasting memory of your time in Mudgee (or for no reason at all except they’re beautiful and so are you) 😉

And yes… you’ll find us there too 🍫

If you feel like something sweet with your wine, you’ll spot our Pebbly Path rocky road at the cellar door.

A little adult treat… or something to take home so you don’t regret not buying it later (speaking from experience).

Quick tip before you go

If you want an actual table, book ahead.

Otherwise - bring a picnic rug, a ball, and settle in.

It’s the kind of place you’ll plan to stay for an hour… and still be there late-afternoon.
